Great Gatsby Style

Good morning lovelies.

Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby has finally arrived in the UK and I can’t wait to see it.

As much as I love a neutral palette I’ve always been in love with the glamour and sophistication of 1920′s style.

Green Wedding Shoes

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel conjures up images of romantic summer evenings, outdoor parties with pretty details and after dinner drinks by candlelight.

Here’s a selection of Gatsby-esque styling ideas to get the look.

When it comes to wedding cakes, there’s something to suit every taste; from elegant geometric designs to shimmering masterpieces.

I’m so in love with that drop dead gorgeous cake, here’s a closer look.

I adore outdoor parties by candlelight for summer celebrations so excuse me while I swoon over this last selection of styling ideas.

Last season we, just by accident/chance, decided to tip an wink to the whole “flapper” era, and design a bouquet that reflected the whole vibe of the 1920′s, incorporating into it, feathers & pearls. Then amazingly & very shortly after designing and creating this bouquet, we saw the press and media hubbub about the upcoming film “The Great Gatsby!” How cool is that!?

We think that next year 2014, we are going to see the whole “Gatsby/1920′s/Flapper” theme really take off, because it’s something different, it’s classy, and very elegant, so who wouldn’t want that on the most special day of their life?

I think lots of brides & grooms do want something different from the usual thing on their wedding day, especially brides & grooms who are perhaps marrying for a second time. They feel they want to do something completely different from ‘last time’ so this is going to appeal to the “re-marrying” crowd too, and why not!

Who ever chooses this wonderful theme is going to look and feel amazing!

Long may this trend last and gather popularity!

Hi Andrew! I’m loving the return to glamour and sophistication that’s so popular this year and I too hope it continues into next year and beyond as the 1920′s was such a stylish era. By the way look out for an email shortly.

Blue Wedding Cakes

When I was into sugarcrafting I loved the challenge of creating tiny, intricate work, and the one and only time I steered away from my comfort zone by piping a two tiered wedding cake, it was so stressful that I nearly had a complete breakdown.

This is why I’ve always been in awe of the skill, attention to detail and sheer hard work that goes into creating wedding cakes and I love showcasing the works of art produced by talented cake makers.

If you’re looking for a statement wedding cake for your something blue, have a look at these show-stopping designs!

I can’t resist a classic English romance.

Here I’ve paired an English garden theme with echoes of Jane Austen wedding style for a modern Elizabeth Bennett.

Simple, elegant details in a soft palette are key to this look; pale pastel blooms tied with ribbons or lace, bridesmaids in flowing empire waist gowns, stacked antique books as centrepieces, candlesticks and pristine tablescapes with fragrant old fashioned blooms tying everything together.

Art Deco Wedding in Montreal

Good morning lovelies!

Something a bit different today as we look ahead to the hugely anticipated release of the Great Gatsby later this week.

I’m a big fan of the glamorous Art Deco era so I love how today’s couple Dorota & Fred styled their 1930′s inspired wedding, so reminiscent of the Jazz Age – check out the guests having fun on the dance floor.

Thanks so much to Canadian based photographers Davina & Daniel for sharing these lovely images with us.
